What We DO and Why We Do It
First we are here to support you the IDC. We will provide current information, answer questions and share experiences and lessons learned in our community. For us to succeed as an organization, we must succeed as individuals. We will ensure you have every opportunity to succeed both professionally and personally. We have done that by sharing the best information we can find & create, and making a web site that is the TRUE One-Stop Shop for all your IDC needs.
Second we want to provide information to those interested in becoming IDC's. We want to make sure you understand what being an IDC means. To do this you must understand the benefits of being an IDC as well as the challenges. It is not a fast track to being "the Chief", but a challenging and rewarding career for the best of the best. Being selected to Chief as an IDC is not a reward for a job well done, but an afirmation of the confidence and leadership that you have demonstrated, and are expected to refine and improve as you continue your career.
Last we are Social Group. A place for current and past IDC's, and those associated with our community to share commraderie. Whether that support is a helping hand during the tough times, or a touch of humor to break the monotony of the day. Past and present, we are brothers and sisters who share a common bond.
As an IDC, we share the heartache, challenges, good times and badtimes of our shipmates. We are often an integral part of their lives. This site provides a chance for us to provide that support to each other.
This website and the IDC Association were formed in August 2001. We have continued to grow and improve over the years, and will continue to do so as long as there is a need.
Support of our Shipmates At Sea
With the support of our shipmates, we will continue to improve and add to this web site. If you have any training materials (quizzes, flash cards, study guides, etc.) or other information that would be helpful to shipmates, please editor [at] navystorekeeper [dot] com (let us know). Also, if you would like to further support your shipmates’ training goals, consider serving as a volunteer. We are always looking for posters, committee members and other positions to support the Association.
