The site has been up and running for 3 months now, and we have almost 80 registered users on the site, and over 52,000 page views in the last three months! There are many positive comments, but where do we go from here? What would you like to see? What subjects should we cover? What news would you like to see? What suggestions do you have to increase the news and postings? I currently post items that I think are of interest to the community that I come across, or that are sent to me, however we need more! How should we publicize the site to increase visits and traffic? Any comments?? Ken Richards webmaster [at] navyidc [dot] org

I like this much better than the previous format.

Have you thought about a UBB or VBB style bulletin board for the forum?

I just did an upgrade to the site, and am working on some module functions in time for the conference. One is pictures which is going to debut with pictures from the IDC Conference coming up next week. I also have pictures from the previous incarnation of the site, and will add those, of course there is always room for more!

For the lessons learned, we have discussed that and I believe it's a great idea. The only concern expressed, and this went for some discussions of case studies as well, was privacy and security issues. One of our discussions next week when I get to talk to some of the Association Officers, is what we want to provide for members, vs plain registered users, and visitors. I also want to be sure that we set up rules for what can and can't be posted when discussing them.

Great ideas!

Not that you should design this site around someone else, but initially it would probably be a good idea to see what has already proven to work elsewhere. The Goat Locker has some great links and views. More near and dear to my heart (being a Navy IDC trained COASTIE) is Freds Place. Started as a tiny web site many years back, and is now the most popular site in the Coast Guard. Check it out at Fredsplace.org. Fred got a lot of pictures of Coasties in action - everybody loves pictures.... Your site could maybe do the same?

I think it would be nice to have a forum where you could discuss "leasons learned" from recent cases and challenging deployments. This would be good for fellow IDC's to learn and be a step ahead. Also a forum that addresses good, quality medical gear/supplies. Basically, what works and what doesn't.

Good idea. Have had quite a few people with those sorts of posts. There is now a new forum on here just for Looking for Shipmates. Post away! v/r, Ken

I think that this would be a good place for us to check if anyone is interested in swaps and the like. I am at 3D Marine Air Wing, I have been trying since I have been in to get to Yuma. I now that there are two billets avaliable now. I do not transfer until 5/05. I am redeploying to Iraq in Aug. So if any one is interested in Miramar or Yuma?!!!
