IDC to Paramedic programs

Does anyone know the best way to go from IDC to EMT-P? I heard that after we graduated there was a college that would sign off on us taking the NREMT-P test? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know of any bridge programs right off. I would check with the local community colleges in your area. Though I would have to say the same thing I do about Nurses challenging the Paramedic test. Go get the experience and earn it. The knowledge base is already there from IDC school, but what you need is the field time, and I don't mean with the FMF in OIF. It is totally different treating a 92 year old in the back of a bouncing ambulance than a 22yo in a BAS. I've done both and I can say that my time as a Paramedic helped me in OIF and continue to help me daily as an IDC. If you want something to do when you get out, don't do Paramedic. We are underpaid and over worked. Don't get me wrong I still maintain my NREMTP, but i came back USN from USNR to be an IDC and maybe one day a PA. If your looking for something to fall back on..PA School is the way to go.

I hope this helps, just my $0.55.
