1st Annual Sub IDC Reunion and 65th Anniversary of NUMI

The First Annual Submarine IDC Reunion will be held in Groton, Connecticut
on 13 June 2008, in conjunction with the Naval Undersea Medical Institutes (NUMI) 65th Anniversary. The Reunion will start with a social at the NEW Groton Chiefs Club located in Bldg 429 (Groton Hall) beginning at 1500 on 12 June.

A picnic will be hosted by NUMI at Admiral Fife Park on 13 June immediately following both an IDC Class 225 and UMO Class 97 Graduations. All staff and student, past and present, are invited to the picnic and the graduations.

IDC/IDMT 2008 Armed Forces Operational Medicine Symposium (AFOMS)

The Armed Forces Operational Medicine Symposium coordinated by the Navy Independent Duty Corpsman Association and the Air Force Independent Duty Medical Technician would like to invite you and your organization to attend our medical symposium. This is the 12th annual conference for the Navy IDC and this is the second year that we are joining forces with the Air Force, Coast Guard and Military Sealift Command. AFOMS 2007 CEUs are now online!

CEUs have now been entered in the database for the July 2007 AFOMS conference!

To collect your CEUs you must log in to the afoms.org site and then go to the AFOMS 2007 CEU menu item to the left. When the page comes up, you will see a link to the "Printer Friendly version." Click on that link, and you can print the certificate out for your files. If CEUs have not been entered into the system for you, the page that comes up will state this. Please follow the instructions given if this is not correct.  read more »

Updated IDC Instruction is on the Streets

The new instruction, "Training, Certification, Supervision Program, and Employment of Independent Duty Hospital Corpsmen (IDCs)" has been released. This is almost a complete update rather than a simple revision, and should be reviewed completely.

It covers several areas including:
- Supervision requirements.
- Relationships between IDCs and the Physician Supervisor, Program manager and others in the Chain of Command.
- Use and employment of IDCs.
- Use and requirement for National Provider Identification (NPI) number.  read more »

CME Status

CME certs will be printable from the AFOMS site from the link you saw on there.

I'll be the one turning that on. Right now we are waiting for two things. first is the text/signatures from the Navy/Air Force for the Actual CME certificates. Second is the validated database. As soon as they are updated on the site, You'll click on that same link, and a CME Memo will come up that you can print for your records, complete with name, hours and signature.  read more »
