About the job on Fort Drum, NY: I have been here for nearly two years working as a contract PA and have been telling anyone who would listen that what these medics (MOS: 91W) need is a good IDC to teach them how to really be a "corpsman". I've tried and even gave them parts of my LTGs from Physical Diagnosis (I taught at SFIDC School PortsVA from 1991 - 95).
If you were an IDC and even if you didn't have an instructor tour or 8404, you MUST consider this job opportunity. I would consider it, but I just signed for another year with the Army Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC).
If you want any info about the area or the mindset of the Army medic, contact me. I really don't know much about the specific job guidelines, but I do know the Army has been trying to do this on their own. Think "GITMO wounds" (for you Old Salts) and add some basic FMF stuff and you'll probably exceed the requirements.
You can contact me at Richard.Mondak@na.amedd.army.mil or by phone at (315) 772-1561. Looking forward to seeing another "squid" here!
