Duties: Serves as the primary action officer for the Risk Management (RM) Program in the Quality Management Division, Clinical Operations, Clinical Services, 18th MEDCOM. Responsible for risk management review activities for both inpatient and outpatient care in support of the RM/Quality Improvement Program. Receives and reviews potential risk management issues/actions. Analyzes findings and follows-up actions through internal peer review, referral for external peer review, referral to appropriate committee, serious medical incident reports to the US Army Medical Command and the Office of The Surgeon General, or notification of the SJA of a potential claim. Reviews all medical records requests from attorneys to determine if reason for request is potential litigation. Upon receipt of a copy of a malpractice claim, reviews the medical records to identify the healthcare providers involved for immediate notification and initiate the peer review process.

General Schedule
Specialized Experience is defined as experience in knowledge of the military and civilian health care services, program goals, and administrative systems (clinical practice and payment models, quality improvement requirements, chains of command, confidentiality requirements, and particular medical and other services available). Knowledge of medical principles and established patient care concepts/practices to evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of medical information and to gather and analyze additional medical information, coordinating the Risk Management Program with the staff and others.
