IDC History ?

In light of the Hospital Corps Birthday this month, Does anyone have any information on our history , establishment date and other information about how we came to be (Independent Duty Corpsman)?

Thanks HMCM Bond, I have not contacted IDC School. I had not received replies from anyone else here so that will be the next step. I will also contact the "A" school and BUMED.

Ben,
My memory only goes back to the fact I was in one of the first IDC classes either #1 or #2 at San Diego after they joined Independent duty tech and MAT techs into one 8425 rating.
