I'm often taken back each time I read a posting from someone wanting to know what the hell to do after leaving the Navy as an IDC. The questions and the lack of good information hasn't seemed to change. I've been retired for ten years now and can see that our shipmates are still grasping at straws. First and foremost, myself and other successfully retired IDC's need to put our knowledge and assistance within reach of those on active duty. Looking for any information on the pay an IDC get while not with a Medical officer, Independent pay I guess, searched the OPNAV, SECNAV, and many more, I have a IDC that was in Iraq, and is qualified since he had no medical officer in or around his unit, we just need the Instruction for his Memo, if there is anyone out there that could help out on this it would be great.

First off, are there any fellow Coastie Corpsman present?
I just wanted to say what a great web site this is.
I am finnally embarking upon the journey into Independant Duty shortly, I recieved orders to a ship in August in conjuction with orders to our farely new Coast Guard Independant Duty HS School located in Petaluma, CA.
We formerly attended the IDC school in San Diego, CA.
So I am excited beyond belief to not only finnally get to this point of my career (I will hit 9 years this June), but to go through the new school will be great.  read more »

Is there anyone out there who has any knowledege on any school that will
1. take IDC school, give me college credit toward a BA that contains the neccessary credits to get me into PA school.
2. additional classes toward the BA can be taken on line.

There was hype about St Francis University...............................any info on this.
