Headed back from the suck in a few weeks. Did a deployment with Team-8, and currently with Team-4. I am a former HM2(SW/FMF), with the NEC's 8483 and 8404. I have been looking at getting back in the Navy but I would like to go to IDC school. I was wandering if anyone knows if there is an age cut off for HM8403/8427.

Anybody know the contact number for school house? I am looking for HM1 Gifford suppose to be graduating in September for SFIDC school. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me what uniform will be worn while in school? I am currently in Camp Lejeune and will be attending the OCT class. Are we going to be in the new uniforms or the "classic" working blues/whites. Can someone please help me out....

I've been trying to google up info on SUB IDC school from a spouse's perspective, but am not having much luck.
After 11 years in as as an HM, my other half's ready to take the next step. Of course I am right there with him on this, but just wanted to know a little bit more about the lifestyle and addtional demands it may have on the family.

Please be as honest as you can, any first hand info you can share is greatly appreciated.

Hello,
I have wanted to become an IDC for a while now and want to drop my package as soon as possible. Problem is I am currently deployed on a tiny COP in Iraq and have no way of getting a package sent off because of my location. I parent command is 3rd Med Bn, but I am deployed with EOD. Should I wait until I get back to my command to get the package started? Is it a good idea to contact the detailers now to let them know I am interested?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm often taken back each time I read a posting from someone wanting to know what the hell to do after leaving the Navy as an IDC. The questions and the lack of good information hasn't seemed to change. I've been retired for ten years now and can see that our shipmates are still grasping at straws. First and foremost, myself and other successfully retired IDC's need to put our knowledge and assistance within reach of those on active duty. Looking for any information on the pay an IDC get while not with a Medical officer, Independent pay I guess, searched the OPNAV, SECNAV, and many more, I have a IDC that was in Iraq, and is qualified since he had no medical officer in or around his unit, we just need the Instruction for his Memo, if there is anyone out there that could help out on this it would be great.
